SCUBA:
Diving and Rescue
SCUBA divers, especially those in law enforcement and emergency medical service (EMS) operations, currently have limited options for underwater lighting and safety/rescue beacons.
Divers conducting search and rescue missions face hazards seldom encountered by recreational divers. But even recreational divers share a need to be seen while diving, especially during night dives.
The PowerFlare®Electronic Beacon offers divers the following benefits:
-
Increased Visibility
By placing the PowerFlare®Unit on the diver, visibility will be increased. Not only will each team member be able to spot each other in the dark, so also will the Dive Master on the surface be able to keep track of the teams. PowerFlare®units will flash 24 hours and recharge quickly to be ready for the next use. Various light colors are available (red, blue, green, white, and amber).
-
Compact
PowerFlare®Units are about the size of a hockey puck. They can mount just about anywhere, on the diver or his equipment.
-
Light Weight
Even though PowerFlare®Units are extremely rugged (can be run over by big rig trucks), they weigh less than 7 ounces. The unit floats so it can be "e;suspended"e; from the bottom by attaching a weighted cord during a search operation.
-
Versatile
In addition to general diver safety, PowerFlare®Units can be used to mark scenes for rescue/recovery, as floating landing zones for helicopters, or other beacon applications. PowerFlare®Units are rated to 80'.
